Dan Cooperman, director of development and membership, joined OPERA America in 2015. He previously served as director of development for BalletX, a contemporary ballet company in Philadelphia, from 2012-2015, during which time the company's budget grew by 40%.

He graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in music and German studies and McGill University with an M.A. in music history, specializing on contemporary repertoire from the twentieth century including the operas of Hans Werner Henze. In 2012, he presented lectures and educational materials for Opera Philadelphia's production of Henze's "Elegy for Young Lovers" with the Curtis Institute of Music.

Dan holds certificates in fundraising from Association of Fundraising Professionals through Villanova University, grant writing from the Foundation Center and financial management from the LaSalle University Non Profit Center. He has served on grant review panels for the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Philadelphia Cultural Fund.

Dan oversees programming for the Development Network and activities for Ambassadors and visiting trustees at Opera Conference 2018.
